Message From another site:
Just returned from two days in Nashville discussing the convention plans with four of the convention guys. We met with Nissan, the hotel people and the track people also. The convention hotel is within walking distance of Nissan and the car show. There will be three cars in the lobby and about eight more outside the front. There is tons of parking and plenty of room for the fifty-some trailers we are anticipating at the moment. The overflow hotel is about a mile down the road. It is a brand new facility and has the same amenities as the Embassy - indoor pool, business room, etc. Both hotel parking lots will have an off duty police officer for security.

We anticipate filling up the front lawn at Nissan with around three-hundred cars or more. Nissan headquarters will be open and food will be available in the Nissan cafeteria which services about 1,500 people daily. You'll be impressed. Special displays will be in front of the building including race cars, heritage vehicles, and concourse cars. There have been questions about tickets to just come see the car show and spectators are free. Because this show is going to be pretty elaborate, we decided to start parking cars around 6:30 in the morning and start the show earlier as well.

Nashville has it's problems with flood damage but should not affect our convention plans. My picks for local bars downtown include; Legends Corner and 2nd Fiddle for ambiance, Coyote Ugly and Stage on Broadway for dancing, and the quitessential dive bar with GREAT music - Full Moon Saloon. Bumped...and Stickied.

Still not sure if I want to go or not.  Only part I care about is the track time on Sunday.

Well, there's the autocross and the car show is typically pretty good -I expect to see some amazing cars this year and a huge group of Datsun / Nissan track drivers that will have some great stories to tell.  So...I'm going because
1.  I'm a Z nut. 39
2.  It's close (< 24 hour drive ) 53
3.  It's 40th anniversary and will never happen again  30
4.  I can. 05
5.  I want to. 50
6.  See friends from other events and previous ZCON's. 26
7.  I want to be present to win the NISMOZ  41
8.  Have to lap Graham after he instructs me on driving (again) 25
9.  More stories to tell the kids when I'm old to bore them with another Z story... 29
10. I really want to check out Dennis Gage's mustache!!!!  43

Here a few more reasons to go

1) Nashville was selected because Nissan wanted to host this event, at their house - when was the last time they did that.  Like some of you have told me, Asking a Nissan dealership to host Z car show before they came back out with the 350 was like asking them for thier first born child. 50

2) I never know where I might be living in 10 years so with this one being so close, I don't want to miss it.  Besides, I didn't even own a Z for what would have been the 10 & 20Th and I not sure the 30's would have nearly as much fun with no current Z model even available. 49

3) The Z is alive and well with fans of both the currents models as well as the classic generations. 53

4) It will be nice to get a chance to meet the former racers and hear some of the great stories. 31

5) I like Nashville and the Nissan 's Headquarters building is impressive. 42

6) A chance to meet up and share some laughs with a lot of people I converse with on the internet Z sites (Twinturbo.net, Zcar.com, etc.). 26

7) Like Mike said, I suspect there are going to be some amazing cars show up for this event and Nissan is supposedly bringing some as well.  43

Cool  A chance to be there in person when I WIN the Nismo 370 (yea right). 42

9) Because I have the vacation time and don't have to be traveling all over the world and also because it is going to be a blast. 53

10) And finally, at least for me, because I have already lost too much sweat and blood just trying to get the car ready for the judged show to stop now. 46

Oh and I almost forgot - I am sure Jolene Younster will be there again as well - hubba hubba !!!

I'm going because I want to get out of mowing the lawn that week.  63

Haa Haaaaa!

Also, because I too will need boring stories to tell the Nurses at the assisted living center someday.
